Exciting Changes in 2019 for Troop 166

Scouts BSA Logo

For over 75 years, Troop 166 has provided the iconic BSA program to the young men of Bexley, graduating over 100 Eagle Scouts.

Starting in 2019, we are adding a new Troop for young women ages 11-17, which will share resources and adult leadership with the existing Troop and offer the same program but will be led by the new Troop’s all-female youth membership.

venturing_4kWe are also excited to offer a new opportunity within the Troop: Venturing Crew. Venturing is an inclusive program through BSA for males and females aged 14-21 (or 13 and completed the 8th grade). Youth and advisers meet on set schedules and plan activities and events. Rappelling a cliff.  Designing a robot. Kayaking into the sunset.  Volunteering at an animal shelter. The choice is yours!

Here’s what’s happening in November with Troop 166!

Get ready for one of the most popular outings of the year, and another opportunity to help a Scout on the Path to Eagle!

Monday, November 5: Help William Brotherton install his Eagle Project, 9 am – 4 pm at BHS Band Room (no school that day, but the band room is open)

Sign up at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040e4cada62eab9-william

Please join me on November 5th to earn service hours by installing my Eagle Project.

Class B uniform required.

Lunch and snacks will be provided. Please bring a bottle of water.

Only 4% of young men who embark on the trail to Eagle Scout make it to the top. I intend to be one that does. My project targets my high school band program and the storage for its instruments. I am a proud percussionist with the band program and I want to make it better. What is currently in place isn’t bad, but it’s not great. In a program that jumped from 85 members to 100 members in only a year, adjustments need to be made to meet the inevitable growth of the Marching Pride of Bexley. As the number of members increases, so does the arsenal of instruments. Our percussion instrument storage room is not fit for such rapid augmentation. My project will hone in on the spacial efficiency of this room and maximize the amount of accessible storage, making it able to accommodate more instruments and sheet music. Help me and the Bexley Band reach the goal of a brighter future, in music and in life.

Thank you,

William Brotherton

Life Scout
