This is the seventh year of the Community Campout in the meadow behind Jeffrey Mansion. It’s one of the Recreation Department’s most popular events. Scouts and Adults help families set up their tents and provide directions and assistance. We supervise the evening campfires and assist in serving meals. Everyone sleeps in tents overnight and we help cleanup in the morning. We need Scouts to provide assistance and Adults to supervise. Service hours for Scouts.

Bring a tent if you have one. Class “A” uniform, please.

Monday, September 10. No meeting due to Rosh Hashanah

Monday, September 17, 7:30 – 9 pm. Scout meeting @ Church and Troop Committee Meeting

All interested adults are welcome to attend the monthly Troop Committee meeting, which handles the ‘behind the scenes’ part of the troop including trip planning, budgeting, coordinating training and fundraising, etc.

Friday, September 21, 6 pm – Sunday, September 23, noon: Plane Crash Camp Out!

Troop 166 welcomes all of our Scouts and their parents to our next advanced outing at Woodland Trails Camp, Anthony Wayne camp site. Plane crash Search-and-Rescue is an advanced team competition that brings together many of the Scouts’ skills and outdoor knowledge, including map reading, orienteering, radio communication, Wilderness First Aid, teamwork, and leadership.

As usual, meet at Bexley United Methodist Church at 6 pm on Friday (eat dinner before you arrive), return by Noon on Sunday. Travel in Class A uniform.

Cost $30/participant (Scout or Adult).

Because this is a simulated Rescue outing, please have High Visibility clothing that can be worn as an outer layer. This can be a shirt, jacket, or reflective vest. If you do not have one, places like WalMart or IKEA sell t-shirts or reflective vests for $3-4. This is a good safety item to keep in a car emergency kit after the weekend.

We will be *tent* camping (scouts will arrange buddies during the Monday meetings). Tenting can be cold, so make sure to have dry clothes and socks for sleeping plus a toboggan / winter hat. Don’t forget to bring sleeping bag, sleeping pad, mess kit, and permission slip. In addition to regular clothing for the weather, be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries, first aid kit, pen and/or pencil and paper, small day pack, water bottle, and orienteering compass (if you have one).

Monday, September 24, 7:30 – 9 pm. Troop meeting @ Church and Board of Review

All those ready to achieve next rank should coordinate with Mr. Dupler to be prepared for this month’s Board of Review.
