On May 6th, the city is hosting the Bexley Community Safety Fest. The city will have workshops, activities, and information all focused on creating a safer Bexley. In addition to kids bike helmet giveaways, info on securing property and preventing theft, info on personal defense, and many other items of interest to creating a better safety culture, there will also be a “Kids and Cops” series of events designed to further support a great connection between our officers and the community. Join the Bexley Recreation Staff and Bexley Police Officers for a day of fun activities/games during the course of The Bexley Community Safety Fest. Games will include a kickball and dodgeball tournament! This event will be held at Montrose Elementary Playground & Gym.

The Boy Scouts have been asked to run the cook out this year. There are two shifts available. Wear your Class A uniform, and please come help!

Troop 166 welcomes all of our Scouts and their parents to our next advanced outing at Woodland Trails Camp, Anthony Wayne camp site. Plane crash Search-and-Rescue is an advanced team competition that brings together many of the Scouts’ skills and outdoor knowledge, including map reading, orienteering, radio communication, Wilderness First Aid, teamwork, and leadership.

As usual, meet at Bexley United Methodist Church at 6 pm on Friday (eat dinner before you arrive), return by Noon on Sunday. Travel in Class A uniform.

Cost $30/participant (Scout or Adult).

Because this is a simulated Rescue outing, please have High Visibility clothing that can be worn as an outer layer. This can be a shirt, jacket, or reflective vest. If you do not have one, places like WalMart or IKEA sell t-shirts or reflective vests for $3-4. This is a good safety item to keep in a car emergency kit after the weekend.

We will be *tent* camping (scouts will arrange buddies during the Mondaymeetings). Tenting can be cold, so make sure to have dry clothes and socks for sleeping plus a toboggan / winter hat. Don’t forget to bring sleeping bag, sleeping pad, mess kit, and permission slip. In addition to regular clothing for the weather, be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries, first aid kit, pen and/or pencil and paper, small day pack, water bottle, and orienteering compass (if you have one).

Due to this year’s school and holiday calendar, this is the only available weekend. We will get your Scouts back to celebrate Mother’s Day afternoon!!!
