From time to time, the question arises about what training is required for adults to become trained as Assistant Scoutmasters or Troop Committee members.
Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters are considered trained when they have completed:
- Youth Protection Training (online) <== RECOMMENDED FOR ALL PARENTS
- This Is Scouting (was New Leader Essentials) (online)
- Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training, (classroom)
- Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (classroom)
(courses are offered individually or through leader training programs (usually two weekends) like Green Bar, Blackfoot, or Rivermen)
Troop Committee members are considered trained when they have completed:
- Youth Protection Training (online)
- This Is Scouting (online)
- Troop Committee Challenge as their leader-specific training (online)
